We are so proud of all the Areas associates who participated in our donation drive to raise money to feed displaced people in Ukraine. Through our partnership with Chef Jose Andres and his World Central Kitchen, we were able to raise $8,750, which Areas matched for a total of $17,500.
The campaign was launched on April 11 and in just one month raised this much money, thanks to some very motivated standout associates. A big shout out to Harold Kornfeld who by himself raised $2,617.
He says his secret is, “You just ask, every single time!.” Harold’s parents were Holocaust survivors so this drive was very personal for him.

Chef Jose Andres founded World Central Kitchen in 2010 and is always the first to the frontlines with his crew to provide meals to hungry people who have been impacted by natural disasters or other crises. The organization has served more than 70 million fresh meals to displaced people all over the world.
Chef Jose sees food relief as not just a meal that keeps hunger away. It’s a plate of hope. It tells you in your darkest hour that someone, somewhere, cares about you.
