Taste of Miami

Also on the standout Areas team were Daniel Munoz, Pablo Mendez, Natasha Rincon, and Filinto Galban.

“This type of occasion doesn’t come around every day,” says Byrne. “We had the opportunity to work alongside the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association to further cement our relationship with them.”

Byrne says Areas was also able to work with students from local high school hospitality programs to raise funds to continue nurturing hospitality novices. The event was a fundraising effort with a fun component, entertaining 250 guests with a high school dance team and a great disc jockey.

Some of Miami’s best chefs participated in the fundraiser which supports Miami high school students in the Academy of Hospitality and Tourism Culinary, Hospitality and Arts & Entertainment.

Crab Tots were a huge hit at the FRLA fundraiser in Miami

Food stations were set up where chefs, shadowed by culinary students, offered foods with flavors representative of Miami cuisine. The Areas presentation included 600 inspirational crab tots with several guests returning for more, consuming nearly every piece. “This will be a dish that will without a doubt be successful in our company.”

“We wanted to become closer to our community and we accomplished that, we now have fabulous contacts with the schools and the FRLA and now have a pool of young people we can train which is vital to our staffing challenges,” says Byrne. “It also gives us the opportunity to hire well-trained hospitality people to solidify our future.”
