Areas USA Earns Green Airplane Certification in ORD

April, 2015 — Areas USA, Inc., a leading provider of food & beverage and retail services in the travel industry, received the Green Airplane Rating for a sustainable concessions program in Terminal 5 in Chicago O’Hare International Airport from the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA). Big Bowl, Tortas Frontera by Rick Bayless, Kofe Powered by Intelligentsia, and Tocco are among the restaurants recognized for this honor.

April, 2015 — Areas USA, Inc., a leading provider of food & beverage and retail services in the travel industry, received the Green Airplane Rating for a sustainable concessions program in Terminal 5 in Chicago O’Hare International Airport from the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA). Big Bowl, Tortas Frontera by Rick Bayless, Kofe Powered by Intelligentsia, and Tocco are among the restaurants recognized for this honor.

The CDA continues to incorporate and expand sustainable initiatives in accordance with the CDA Sustainable Airport Manual (SAM) – a document created to integrate airport-specific sustainable planning and practice into everyday functions.  The Sustainability Review Panel, which includes LEED® accredited staff, continually tracks, monitors and reports on sustainability achievements as part of SAM. Green Airplane Certifications were established to recognize those who meet or exceed contractual obligations to incorporate sustainable initiatives into projects.
