AREAS ANNOUNCES ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGERS AT MARYLAND HOUSE AND CHESAPEAKE HOUSE PLAZAS

Travelers with alternative-energy vehicles will now be able to find charging stations at both Maryland House and Chesapeake House Travel Plazas. Areas, a leading provider of food & beverage and travel retail services, announces it has 8 Tesla super chargers and 4 universal chargers in each plaza.

“Areas is committed to doing our part for the environment,” said Carlos De Jesus, Director of Operations for both plazas. “We believe in honorable Governor Larry Hogan’s initiative of using electric cars to promote a healthier and greener Maryland for our travelers, tourists, and commuters.”

“Areas understands our responsibility to the community in which we operate, and to the environment in general” said Sergio Rodriguez, CEO of Areas in the US. “The plaza buildings are LEED certified, and it just makes sense that we continue on with our sustainability mindset. We are excited to offer this to our guests as part of a world class experience.”

The chargers have been operational since September at Chesapeake House, and since October for Maryland House. The universal chargers are free, and the Tesla charges operate according to Tesla agreement. This will give alternative-energy vehicle owners the confidence to use their cars on long trips. This is just one more way Areas strives to exceed our guests’ expectations.
