The purpose of the ACI-NA Excellence in Airport Concessions Contest is to inspire creativity in the industry and to recognize innovative and outstanding airport concessions.  These awards help to demonstrate the growing importance of concessions to the total airport experience.  This year almost 200 concepts in airports in the US and Canada competed for distinction.

In the Best Food and Beverage Program (Large Airport) category, Areas earned 2nd Place for the Terminal 5 program at ORD. Terminal 5 delivers a wide sampling of exclusively local fare to ORD guests. The offer is a balanced mix of iconic brands, celebrity chefs, and local treasures. Tortas Frontera by Rick Bayless has a huge following, and T5 travelers can experience his take on the amazing flavors of Mexico. Kofe Powered by Intelligentsia caters to true coffee enthusiasts. The food court is a fast casual trio featuring Asia inspired Wow Bao, Mediterranean inspired Urban Olive, and the burger joint R.J. Grunts. Local hot spot Hub 51 offers American fare and a place to sit, have a drink, and watch a game. Those with more time, can enjoy Chef Bruno Abate’s local treasure, Tocco, which features an impressive Italian menu. Or if you’re looking for authentic Chinese and Thai, Big Bowl will have you covered. T5 is really a true taste of Chicago’s famed food scene.
