Areas Awarded Two New Concepts at Philadelphia International Airport
“We are excited to be at PHL – an airport so invested in the passenger experience,” said Sergio Rodriguez, CEO of Areas in the US. “These two restaurants, Bud & Marilyn’s and California Pizza Kitchen, are poised to complement the guest as a priority, and deliver a world class experience.”
California Pizza Kitchen’s family friendly menu is perfect for PHL. The combination of small plates, appetizers, pastas, pizzas, salads and sweet treats ensure that CPK can cater to each and every customer’s needs at any time of day. Constant innovation and an intrepid culinary spirit provide an adventurous dining experience; giving even regular travelers something new and delicious to try.
Created by Chef Marcie Turney and business partner Valerie Safran, Bud & Marilyn’s is a celebration of American classics and focuses on simple well-prepared comfort foods. With 20 years in the restaurant business, Chef Turney decided to open a restaurant that touched home for her, an ode of sorts to her grandparent’s popular, but now-closed, restaurant that she grew up in back in Ripon, WI. She named it “Bud & Marilyn’s” after them. Bringing this concept to PHL provides the full‐service restaurant that travelers need offering chef-prepared classics at an affordable cost.
“MarketPlace PHL couldn’t be more eager to welcome these two new eateries to our airport,” said Mel Hannah, vice president and general manager of MarketPlace PHL. “California Pizza Kitchen is a strong recognizable brand and Bud & Marilyn’s is a local favorite—two great options that embody our effort to please each traveler’s taste.”
The new dining spaces, which will open in 2019, provide a balance which caters to all our guests’ needs. Both restaurants will have convenient grab & go sections for passengers with tighter timelines. They both will also feature full bars for guests with time to kill. California Pizza Kitchen and Bud & Marilyn’s provide a well poised mix that will create a sense of place and fulfill PHL’s travelers in a way worthy of the world-renown Philadelphia culinary scene.
